SMM January 10 News: As the Chinese New Year holiday approaches, zinc downstream operating rates showed significant divergence this week. Specifically, northern galvanising enterprises gradually entered the holiday mode, coupled with reduced operating rates at galvanised pipe factories due to declining orders, leading to a notable decrease in galvanising operating rates this week. However, stocking demand from die-casting enterprises remained robust, and zinc oxide enterprises also saw significant production increases at large factories for stocking purposes, resulting in a significant WoW increase in operating rates for both die-casting and zinc oxide sectors this week. Nevertheless, zinc downstream enterprises are expected to gradually begin their holiday next week, with operating rates across the three major sectors anticipated to decline MoM.
